Groin pain can originate from more than a single source — for example, the hip flexors, adductors, or other tissue. Although not very frequent, in approximately 40% of individuals with longstanding groin pain, there are several clinical entities involved. The greater number of sources of pain, the longer the recovery typically takes, often needing 3–6 months of rehabilitation. Here, we dissect why multi-entity groin pain is more difficult to cure, how it affects prognosis, and how rehab protocols must change.
